Points worth understanding.
- Dividends are set by the issuer or index provider, not by Solaris Black, and can be reduced or cancelled.
- A share price typically adjusts downward around the ex-dividend date, so a distribution is not free return.
- Short positions are debited rather than credited on the same dates.
- Withholding tax may apply depending on the instrument and your jurisdiction.
Dividends FAQ.
Which instruments pay dividends?
Qualifying shares and index instruments marked as dividend-paying. Instruments that carry no distribution are unaffected.
How long must I hold a position?
The position must be open before the ex-dividend date and still held at the record date. There is no minimum holding period beyond that.
What happens if I am short?
A short position held over the ex-dividend date is debited the equivalent of the distribution rather than credited.
When will I see the money?
On the payment date set by the issuer or index provider. It is credited in the declared currency and shown in your statement.
Is tax deducted?
Withholding tax can apply depending on the instrument and your jurisdiction. Any deduction is itemised alongside the distribution.
